A Legacy of Connection
For years, HamClock has been a core part of my radio shack. It provided always-on visibility into the solar environment, the grayline, and DX activity, all available at a glance. Its design balanced simplicity and usefulness, making it a practical tool for everyday operating.
This dashboard is inspired by HamClock, the well-known shack display created by Elwood Downey (WB0OEW). His work made ionospheric and solar data easier for amateur radio operators to view and understand at a glance.
The amateur radio community was deeply saddened by Elwood’s passing in 2026. He was a brilliant engineer and a generous contributor whose work enriched countless stations around the world. This project is dedicated to his memory and is intended as a respectful tribute to the legacy he left behind.
With the original HamClock now facing its sunset, I felt a personal drive to keep that spirit alive. This is a personal project built with modern web technologies. It is not a replacement, nor an attempt to replicate internal code, but rather a continuation of the idea: an always-on, glanceable window into the radio world. It is my way of saying thank you, and of keeping the clock ticking on our screens.
